Novo 64

I noticed some posters on windows of the old Vincci store on Austin. They were advertising something called Novo 64. The website referenced has some flash intro and a tag line of "Forest Hills Your Way Coming Soon". Anyone know anything more about this?

An ugly, hideous building, resembles a small Creedmore State Hospital--no beauty to the architecture. It was built on top of a parking lot for Associated Supermarket which still operates. It is in the heart of Bukharian territory, where English is a second language. All you hear is Russian being spoken on cell phones that the Bukharians all have along with their food stamps card and other benefits. The building is no where near a subway line. One must wait a lifetime for the Q-23 bus to take them along 108th Street to Continental Avenue. Food shopping has Associated Supermarket at your door and the Bukharian food stores on 108th Street. Prices are over $500,000. I wouldn't live there if you paid me!

The building isn't hideous and I've seen Creedmore State Hospital. This place is nothing like Creedmore. Novo 64 is a great piece of architecture that's in an unfortunate, tight spot. I watched it being built in what was a parking lot. The Associated grocery store next door is not bad. They have a great deli and fish counter. I've been going there for eight years. The bus stop is nearby, but I've never tried it. English is my native language and I'm not Bukharian, nor are my friends who liver here, so I don't agree with the comment that everyone's on a cellphone speaking Russian and dealing in food stamps. There is a good mix of people here. 108th Street is great for shopping and eating. There many restaurants and stores featuring interesting foods items from many countries.
